Connecting Plymouth's tech, creative and business community

Welcome to Digital Plymouth! We’re a Community Interest Company that has spent the last ten years bringing our city’s awesome tech and creative scene together. What started as a simple idea has blossomed into a thriving community of over 1,000 innovators, creators, and tech fans.

It all kicked off back in 2012. The team at Elixel noticed that while Plymouth was full of talent, there wasn’t really a regular spot for the digital community to connect. Inspired by other tech events, our co-founder Paul Bird joined forces with other passionate locals—Garry Hunt, Sabrina Simpson, Mike Turner, and Rob Wick—to build something new. And just like that, Digital Plymouth was born.
Our mission was simple: get everyone together, show off the incredible work happening locally, and put Plymouth on the national tech map (right where it belongs, between Exeter and Truro!).

We held our breath at that first event, but when 30 people walked in, we knew we had something special. The buzz was amazing! Fueled by that success, we kept the momentum going, and within a couple of years, we’d done it: Plymouth was officially named a UK Tech Cluster. We had put our city on the map, together.

Since then, we’ve hosted over 42 events and welcomed more than 150 speakers from all over the UK to share their wisdom. Today, our events are powered by the teams at Elixel and Soundview Media, with amazing support from our partners, Acronyms and Real Ideas, who host us in the brilliant Devonport Market Hall.

This journey has always been about more than just events; it’s about building a movement. It’s proof of what can happen when a community rolls up its sleeves and builds something for itself. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve all created and can’t wait to see what the next ten years bring!
