Talk Topic:
High Performance Computing applied to Particle Physics at Plymouth University
I am currently a lecturer in Theoretical Physics at Plymouth University. I use High Performance Computing to do research into Nuclear and Particle Physics. I obtained my PhD from the University of Edinburgh, and I have worked at various Universities, including: Utah, Glasgow and Wuppertal.
I will give a short overview of how high performance computing is applied to particle physics. I will then describe the high performance computing cluster at Plymouth University and the Distributed Research utilising Advanced Computing (Dirac) supercomputers also used by our research group.
